The National Mosque, Abuja (also known as the Nigerian National Mosque) was built in 1984 to serve as the premier Islamic sanctuary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Facing the National Christian Centre across the central boulevard of Abuja, it stands as a celebrated symbol of national peace, co-existence, and spiritual elevation.
The complex encompasses a main prayer hall accommodating over 15,000 worshippers, a dedicated Islamic Centre for religious scholarship, an extensive theological library, a conference hall, and residential quarters for the Board of Imams.
